Auntie Ocloo: Esther Afua Ocloo Honoured In Google Doodle…

Today in History: Ghanaian Entrepreneur and Pioneer of Microlending Esther Afua Ocloo has been honoured today with a Google Doodle on what would have been her 89th birthday.

Popularly known as  “Auntie Ocloo”  Esther Afua Ocloo worked very hard during her teenage years Auntie Ocloo to to help lots of people to be successful by making and selling marmalade and orange juice…

Auntie Ocloo later had chance to travelled to U.K  to learn more about food processing. Upon her return back to Ghana she founded Nkulenu Industries a leading company in the food processing industry in 1942 to create job opportunity for Ghanaians.

The co-founder and head of Women’s World Banking, pioneered the practice of microlending, providing loans to small businesses, run by less privileged women

Esther Afua Ocloo died in 2002 at the age of 82.
