Kofi Kinaata Wins Songwriter Award For The Fourth Time – VGMA 2021
Congratulations are in order! Ghanaian Highlife /Hiplife artiste Martin King Arthur, known professionally as Kofi Kinaata bags home ‘Songwriter of The Year’ award for the just ended VGMA, held in Accra on Friday and Saturday.
He succeeded over tight competitors including Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Adina, Abiana and Epixode with his song, “Behind the Scenes” released in April, 2020.
Kinaata first won the songwriter award at the 2016 VGMA with his hit single titled, “Susuka” which was released in the previous year, beating top-notch contestants like, Stonebwoy, Mzvee, Obrafour, Knii Lante and Rex Omar.
The following year in that same award category, he won for the second time with his song “Confession”. The 2017 VGMA night saw the “Susuka” hitmaker successfully winning three awards.
Again, he won in 2020 with his well-received, “Things Fall Apart” released in December 2019. Then the latest reign in the songwriter of the year award category for the 22nd edition of VGMA, 2021.
Celebrating the ground-breaking feat for the fourth time in the category and awards history, the Fante rap god took to his social media pages announcing to the world his success and breaking his own record from last year’s VGMA.
He wrote;
“Another One! I set a record last year.. and I’ve broken my own record this year! The only Ghanaian 🇬🇭 artiste to win the VGMA SongWriter Award for the FOURTH time! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 #VGMA22”
Kinaata is always hailed by the people of Takoradi in the Western region of Ghana. He has won the heart of Ghanaians especially residence of Takoradi with his brilliant Fante rap lyrics.
The young and old jam to his music as it’s deemed insightful and good to dance along. He’s the brain behind the famous musical and decorative concert, “Made In Tadi” which is usually organised in December.
Loved ones of the rap icon celebrated him for the massive achievement on various social media platforms. he was showered with respect and love form his families and friends as well.
