Every year, artistes gets celebrated and honoured in several awards schemes around the world for their indefatigable contributions to the world and making it a better place to live through music and arts, irrespective of life uncertainties and misfortunes.
BET awards come just after few months of Grammy awards which took place in Los Angeles in March, 2021.
The 21st edition of the annual recognition of back achievements in the world of music by the Black Entertainment Television-BET, bounce back after a year of Covid 19 strict safety restrictions with an amazing night of live celebration on Sunday, June 28 at the Microsoft theatre in Los Angeles.
It was a night full of enjoyment and love for black people in the diaspora who feel so much accepted and honoured for their artistic flairs.
Seeking to recognizing and honouring the success of black women, this year’s BET Awards was held under the theme, “Year of the Black Woman” with actress Taraji P Henson hosting the night’s event.
In her presentation, she constantly acknowledged the women in the theatre and around the world for their efforts. At the beginning of the ceremony, after her introduction as the host, the award-winning actress honoured black women on the front roll with flowers as part of the celebration.

Dana Elaine Owens known by her stage name, Queen Latifah who is affectionately described as hip hop first lady was honoured the Lifetime Achievement award last night.
Some of her hit songs was performed to celebrate her relevance since the start of her music career. Upon receiving the award, the rapper cum actress gave a brief acceptance speech where she expressed her love for black people, especially women out there striving to make their way through the journey of life.
She shared some words of encouragement to uplift the soul of every black woman and also appreciated her family and friends and BET for empowering black people all over the world to not downplay their dreams through their channel.
The programme went on with a lot of thrilling performances from stars including, Kirk Franlikn, Lil Baby, Migos, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, DJ Khaled, Lil Baby, Dababy, City Girls just to mention a few. Tribute was paid to those dead in the industry as well with performance from some of the superstars.
