Ebola in the UK: Ebola case confirmed in Glasgow hospital

Gartnavel-Hospital-Glasgow-Dunne-Building-The first case of Ebola in UK has being diagnosed at Glasgow’s Gartnavel Hospital.  A health worker in Glasgow was confirmed to have contracted the Ebola virus.

She is currently being treated at the specialist Brownlee Unit for Infectious Diseases at Glasgow’s Gartnavel Hospital, and is said to be in a stable condition.

According to reports, the patient is believed to have had contact with only one person since came back from West Africa. However,  all passengers on the same flights with the woman will be traced. The patient returned to Scotland from Sierra Leone via Casablanca and London Heathrow, the into Glasgow Airport on a British Airways flight at about late on Sunday.

Ms Sturgeon said: “Apart from other passengers on the flights and obviously the hospital staff since this patient’s admittance to hospital, she, the patient is thought to have had contact with only one other person in Scotland since returning to Scotland last night and that person will also be contacted and given appropriate reassurance.”
