The high school educational fair being organized by AB Review – an education research, school and career planning firm will be held on Friday, Feb 3 at the National Theatre, Accra.
The one-day fair, which would be held under the theme “Before I Choose My School and Course” would provide a platform for final year Junior High School students and their parents to meet and engage with senior high school counsellors and students from selected public and private senior high schools. The first part of the event will involve short presentations from school counselors on why students should consider their schools. The second part of the fair will be an open exhibition which will involve students interacting with school counsellors and current high school students to find out which of the schools are good matches before they select their top choices.
A statement from the organizers said that we often hear of students who choose schools that end up being misfits all because they don’t have accurate and updated information on them. It is with this background that this fair was initiated. This platform seeks to address the situation by offering candidates with up to date information on second cycle institutions. Information such as schools’ recent performance in academics, extracurricular achievements, courses available, class sizes, boarding house facilities and many others will be presented by the senior high school counsellors.
AB Review continues to be committed to providing avenues for students to make informed educational decisions, on school and career choices at all education levels, the statement quoted Mr. Abel Ohene Acquaye, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the High School Edufair ’17.
It noted that the organizers have already received participation from junior high schools in the capital and confirmed participation from some senior high school counsellors from the Greater Accra, Eastern and Central Regions. Other educational stakeholders such as the Computer Selection and School Placement System (CSSPS) would utilize the platform to inform teachers and students from junior high schools on the school selection and placement process….
