Leading Ghanaian American Group Announces The Endorsement Of Gabe Amo For U.S. Congress

I am honored to receive GHPAC’s endorsement of my campaign for Congress. It is not just a recognition of my Ghanaian heritage;’~ Gabe Amo

In keeping with our commitment to empower Ghanaians in the Diaspora through civic and political action, Ghana Diaspora PAC is today endorsing an outstanding candidate for office in the upcoming Rhode Island primary election Tuesday, September 5, 2023: Gabe Amo (D-RI), candidate for U.S. Congress in Rhode Island’s first congressional district. Early voting for the election began on Wednesday, August 16.

Gabe Amo is a proud Rhode Islander, having grown up in Pawtucket as the son of Ghanaian and Liberian immigrants. He was President of the Student Senate and received the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s Civic Leadership Award at the Moses Brown School in Providence.

Gabe then went on to Wheaton College, receiving a Truman Scholarship for public service and a Marshall Scholarship to study public policy at Oxford. Under President Obama, Gabe worked in the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs as a liaison to Governors and state elected officials. He was later appointed by former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo as Director of Public Engagement and Community Affairs, where he served as her principal advisor on outreach to businesses and labor, faith groups, local government, grassroots organizations, and communities of color. Gabe then served as the Deputy Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Assistant to the President, working as President Biden’s principal liaison to mayors and local elected officials.

“I am honored to receive GHPAC’s endorsement of my campaign for Congress. It is not just a recognition of my Ghanaian heritage; it is also testament to the Ghanaian-American community’s significant contributions in the United States, including in my home state of Rhode Island,” Amo said. “I’ve had the honor of working for Governor Raimondo, Senator Whitehouse and in the White House for two Presidents – President Obama and President Biden. I want to put that experience to work for the people of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District. Our people need a Representative who will deliver for them on day one.”
