French rapper, MHD Officel is known for his combination of trap music and music of west Africa which he invented the name, “Afro Trap” as the music genre.
As a west African descendant, growing up, he and his family were inspired by some African musicians like, Papa Wemba, Kofii Olomide, Salif Ketia and Awilo Longoma.
He began rapping at the age of 18 by joining a group of rappers known as the Gangster Rap. However, the start of this didn’t go well as he expected and later decided to work as a waiter in a luxurious restaurant in Paris.
Along the line in 2015, whiles on some holidays, he started being creative on the internet.

He began with a video of him giving freestyle of a song by the then Nigerian twins duo artistes, P Square. Luckily for him.
The freestyle came out successful on all social media platforms and this gave him another chance to bounce back into the world of music.
Following the freestyle success, he continued with youtube videos of new freestyles such as Afro Trap part 1(La Moula), Afro Trap 3 (champions league) among others.
In 2016, he released his debut studio album titled “MHD” comprising of six series of Afro Trap music which sold tremendously in less than six months winning him Double Platinum Music Recording Certificate in France.
His songs featured popular African musicians like Angelique Kijo, Fally Pupa, Wizkid, Salif Keita among others.

He gained international recognition, had a lot of tours in Europe and Africa and got a deal with Puma clothing brand as their brand ambassador.
Two years later, he released his second album in September but disclosed on social media his decision of retiring after releasing the second album.
MHD Official also starred in a French television drama known as Mon Frère (My Brother).
He has over 3.5 million subscribers on YouTube and over 1 billion views
In 2019, he was arrested and charged with second–degree murder after police officers investigated a 23-year-old young man’s death in Paris.
His lawyer revealed that, MHD denied the charges of the voluntary manslaughter.
