PATRICK KLUIVERT AMONG COACHES TO LAND GHANA COACHING POST
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to name a new Black Stars’ head coach early October.
Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, Bernd Schuster and former Chelsea boss Avram Grant are among the 11 shortlisted big names to land the top job.
The trio are the marquee names among 32 to have applied to succeed sacked Kwesi Appiah.
The GFA has however dismissed reports that a substantive coach would be named this Friday to handle next month’s 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea.
Pappoe But, a member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee, told ghanasoccernet.com that they received over 28 applications.
“We have received about 28 or 29 applications and we should trim it down to about 11 by the close of the week,” Pappoe said adding that, the FA is not in hurry to name Kwesi’s replacement.
“We are not in a hurry to appoint a new coach, we should appoint a stop-gap coach to take care of the game against Guinea and take our time in naming a good coach to come in after that”. He added.
Ghana is second in group E of the AFCON qualifiers with four points below Uganda.
