This was followed by royal crisis meetings, a statement released from Buckingham Palace by the Queen has confirmed a total resignation of the couple.
The statement confirmed an agreement the palace and the couple arrived which indicated their understanding on pulling back from royal responsibilities.
This will include: No financial support, official appointments and not using their primary HRH (His or Her Royal Highness) titles.
