The Mandela Washington Fellowship, for Young African Leaders which commenced in 2014, is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
The fellowship empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training and networking.
In 2020, the fellowship will offer 700 outstanding young leaders from sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to enhance their skills at us college or university with aid for professional improvement after returning to their home country.

The fellow who are between the ages of 25 and 35 get the opportunity to represent a different group of leaders in 48 countries across sub-Saharan Africa.
