PwC Ghana launches innovative business school

Auditing giant, PricewaterhouseCoopers has reaffirmed its commitment to growing and unlocking potentials across the African sub-region by launching a business school.

The institution, which is cast more in the mould of an executive training institution than the traditional business school, will be used as a platform for knowledge sharing and the delivery of innovative thought leadership and skills development programmes.

The launch, which took place on Wednesday, 4th of February 2015 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, saw the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education and Power as well as many top officials from PwC grace the occasion.

Launching the school on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman extended congratulatory messages from the President to the organization as well as his gratitude for the $100,000 funding from PwC to ECOWAS which is to be used to combat Ebola.

Speaking to Business World, Partner and Director at PwC Ghana, Vish Ashiagbor stated the school did not have any accreditation as it only sought to be a collaborator and not a competitor—“not intended to be accredited because we will only run short courses”’; the courses offered will however qualify as Continued Professional Development (CPD), as they meet professional and regulatory requirements.

According to Territory Senior Partner PwC Africa, Mr Suresh Kana, PwC recognizes the importance of skills development and knowledge sharing not only in its own business but also in the wider market, and for the benefit of the community—“PwC’s Business School is a place for our people, our clients, our profession and the wider business community to benefit from training”.

The school will offer courses in Accounting, Corporate Governance, IT, Leadership, Marketing, Sales and Services, Capital Infrastructure, Human Resource, Forensic, Finance, and Insolvency/Business Recovery for heads of businesses, managers and policy makers.
